Widespread moderate to heavy rain is expected over the next 48 to 72 hours across the mountains of Northeast Oregon and Southeast Washington.

A large moist Pacific storm system will move into the area today through Monday afternoon with 72 hour rainfall amounts in excess of 2 to 4 inches along the mountains of Northeast Oregon, and 3 to 7 inches across the east slopes of the Cascades. Flooding of rivers as well as small creeks and streams will be possible.

A flood watch has been issued, and remains in effect from now through Monday afternoon. The warning includes all cities in the readership area of The Dalles Chronicle.
